| Question: Does St. Joseph School have a Pre-School Program? |
| Most people realize that St. Joseph School offers a full-day program for grades K-8, but not everyone is aware that we also have 3-year-old and 4-year-old pre-school programs. The 3-year-old session meets two half-days each week, and the 4-year-old program meets three half-days each week of the regular school year.
Our highly dedicated pre-school teacher is a certified teacher and with the help of a teachers aide, the adult to child ratio is never more than a 1:9 ratio. As much as possible, the pre-schoolers participate in the activities of the larger school. More specifically, the St. Joseph Pre-school Program is both developmental and academic. Through monthly themes, the children are introduced to language/reading, math, religion, science, and social studies concepts. 4-year-olds even have a scheduled library time, music time, and a scheduled computer lab time like the K-8 students do. Through a variety of arts & crafts project, fine motor development is developed. Several times during the month, an instructor comes from the Gymnastics Factory to engage the children in activities which promote large motor skills. Time is also provided for social development. If you were to ask any of the pre-schoolers about all of this, they would just tell you that they have a lot of fun! |
